Jamia Wilson

Our #WCW this week is Jamia Wilson, feminist activist, writer, and speaker! Jamia recently joined Random House as vice president and executive editor where she is working to elevate and give a platform to those who are marginalized in her curation of content. As the former director of the Feminist Press at the City University of New York and the former VP of programs at the Women’s Media Center, Jamia has been a leading voice on women’s rights issues for over a decade.

This year she launched her latest book, This Book is Feminist, where she explores the history and meaning of the feminist movement through 15 reasons why feminism improves life for everyone. By exploring who has been left out of the movement historically, this book makes sure everybody is included and changes the face of feminism.

Jamia is passionate about mission-driven organizations and serves on the Omega Institute, Feminist.com and Center for Reproductive Rights boards and the St. Timothy’s School Advisory Council. We were lucky enough to meet her at the Omega Institute and hear her speak at a recent Women’s Funding Network event.

We are honored this week to feature Jamia as our #WCW. Do you know a women who is crushing it helping other women who are marginalized? Nominate them here 👉https://www.workingforwomen.org/wcw-nomination/
